RIVER CITY RIFFS is a documentary passion project chronicling the thriving Brisbane thrash metal scene of the 2010s.


Filmed, directed, and edited entirely by me, this film features over 30 interviews with key figures and band members from Malakyte, Deraign, and Wartooth, to name a few. The documentary also explores the scene’s resilience through the COVID-19 pandemic and its exciting resurgence in the late 2020s.


Now in post-production, the documentary weaves together years of archived B roll footage and hours of interviews to create a definitive record of this powerful and resilient community.


My biggest project I've tackled yet! 

In December 2021, when the world was knee deep in the Covid-19 pandemic, almost the whole world was locked down and unable to do squat.

Join Mason and Montreal's Mutank on a three week Canadian tour from Victoria Island all the way to Quebec City with Thrash legends 'Annihilator'. 

This is first full length tour film by Melbourne-based thrash metallers MASON, "Up In Smoke Tour" brings you 100 minutes of live footage and funny tour antics.

In 2016, two of Brisbane's hardest-hitting thrash metal bands, Deraign and Kaustic, embarked on a two-week tour of East Java, Indonesia. This film chronicles their journey, both on and off the stage.

Join them as they experience unforgettable highs—including a breathtaking view from a mountaintop and feeding lions at a local zoo—and stumble through some truly regrettable, alcohol-fueled misadventures. A raw and unfiltered look at life on the road, this feature captures the music, the mayhem, and the moments they'd rather forget.

A remastered version titled 'Indonesian Assault Tour REDUX' will be due out 2026! Basically a director's cut with stacks more 'unseen' footage, merging both parts together, adding in interview footage from most of the band members who were on the tour, and an upgrade in the visuals like upscaling to 1440p and a colour grade for a more definitive version of the film!
